At least on my bike, the petcocks are the same on each side.
The way the tank is shaped, once one side runs dry, there is still half a
gallon or so on the other side of the tank. Simply open the petcock on that
side and thats your reserve.
Sometimes I run the left side as primary, right as reserve, sometimes the
opposite. Seems to make no difference.

Look carefully at both of them. Sometimes one will have "reserva" (Correct
spelling?, Well you get my point) stampped in it. If not I think the reserve
is on the right, best way to find that out is to run out of gas! Don't have
the problem, I have 2 reserves runnin'. Yup, I check often!

Folks: I just got a '73 Eldo and I'm trying to familiarize myself with
the controls etc. I'm a little confused about the fuel petcocks. The
manual says use one for routine riding the other as a reserve. But how
do I know which one is the reserve and which is the "normal" one without
running out of gas? Neither the owner's manual or the service manual
says which is which.

Thanks for help. More to follow, I'm sure.
