Harley Davidson Adds Fuzzy Logic To Motorcycle ECU
Milwaukee, Wisconsin:

Harley Davidson has announced the addition of fuzzy logic to their top
of the line family of cruisers. The new logic modules reside atop their
current modules used to precisely control the fuel injection and timing
in response to load conditions. In addition to the standard electronic
ignition controls the fuzzy logic will automatically blip the throttle
at 15 second intervals whenever the tachometer and tps sensors detects
an idle condition. According to Harley's technology evangelist, Howard
Romar, the new control will eliminate almost all of the carpal tunnel
complaints dealers have been witnessing in the last several years.
Quotes Howard, "Since Harley has broadened its market appeal to the more
literate crowd we've seen more sophisticated complaints to our
dealer/partners. In the 70's and 80's our quality controls dealt almost
strictly with oil leaks and ..., well mostly oil leaks and a few recalls
that we consider minor in comparison. But since the 90's and the
celebrity biker craze we've gotten more of the chronic human-generated
complaints. Riders of Harleys possess strong desires of constantly
wanting to blip the throttle manually at lights. We hope by automating
this task the fuzzy logic system will address this part and take us back
to the better years." Written in C++, the fuzzy logic modules will
only be offered on certain models initially. Plans are to expand the
offering to other models starting with the 2004 model year.
