Ambo 4 speed tranny, have a leak around the square/rectangular shape
plate that covers the return spring/shifter area - I think the Guzzi
dealer never used a gasket -looks like goop was used to seal it.
Ordered a new gasket, was wondering what all it takes to replace it,
i.e., do I need to disconnect the shifter/what needs to be removed?
Also, as previously posted, I still have the idle drop to stall problem
when pulling in the clutch, but only after the tranny has warmed up.
Moe sent me a note and said it is either the clutch's hanging up if they
were installed incorrectly (ndy said they were OK though) or the
throwout bearing is binding due to a worn out clutch rod or something to
that nature. Mark E mentioned a plastic cup on the rod. Guzzi dealer
receipt says he replaced the throwout bearing (needle style and is still
good), rear tranny case, inner and outer body. Wonder if he messed
something up? Question I have is can I remove the rod through the rear
tranny cover, do I need to remove the whole rear tranny cover, and most
importantly, can I check this out with the tranny IN THE BIKE? Or does
the tranny need to be pulled again? Another nightmare is starting to
appear again, oil can be seen between the cases again - it's just
starting to show, not yet like it was, but a few more miles on the bike
will tell the tale. That will be 3 main seal replacements and still a
leak - go figure. I have just about run out of patience with Patience,
a for sale sign is not too far off in her future................
