I'll give the tach two tries - and this is the second attempt. If it
breaks again, it'll stay broken, become a cheapstake like Mark and get a
cheapie digital unit.

operating, and install a digital unit on the bars somewhere
convenient. They are very inexpensive, and a piece of cake to hook up
(just a ground wire and wrap another around the coil wire)
