I've polished out the pits on lifter faces by chucking them up in the lathe and using emery paper (oiled liberally). Won't work though if the pits are too deep. MI offers remanufactured lifters for $20 ea. Since you already have the pushrods, you might have better luck finding good used later lifters than Loop lifters - get the adjuster screws also (I think they're different).

Like Ian said, the Gilardoni kits are available for $380 (+ shipping) from Agostini. At that price, why mess with reconditioning yours? If you have Guzziology read Dave R's advice on the subject before you go the reconditioning route. Cheers,

Charlie.

 Joe,

I think I remember Charlie saying that you can get a new Nikasil set
(jugs, pistons, rings) for under $400. Is that right Charlie?

If you plan on using the same pistons check to see if they are A B or C
pistons. I think the cylinder diameter changes slightly for each. Info that
you will need to pass on to the machine shop.

Rings are different for chrome and nikasil. Just make sure you have the
right type.

As for lifters. I don't know if you can use T3 pushrods in an Ambo but I bet
you can get a set of lifters in great shape if you call MG Classics. I bet
he has a bin of them.
