Hi, all. I'll be installing wheel bearing adjusting
shims in the front wheel of my ambo soon. I've not
done this before: it has no shims in it, and if I
torque it to the recommended ~100ft/lbs it locks up,
so I have been tightening the axle nut only until it
stops spinning freely then loosening it up a mite.
This has worked for thousands of miles, but I am
always fearing that the nut will rotate off sometime,
or that the bearings will wear out prematurely from
being misadjusted. Would anyone like to explain to me
how to know how many shims to use, and how the
adjusting procedure goes in general?

Thanks!
