Different alloys on the different parts react uniquely to various
chemicals.

Eagle 1 mag wheel cleaner for uncoated AL wheels works great on Eldo
engine blocks but will darken tranny and timing-chain cases, unless you
use only a small amount and scrub it off and neutralize very quickly.

Mine did the same thing. I sprayed it on and scrubbed it in with a
stiff
brush and then washed it off with some hot soapy water. I did this at
least two maybe three times and it cleaned off all the old grease and
road crud. Just make sure you rinse it with hot soapy water really good
to get all the cleaner off.

Okay...about this oven cleaner. I sprayed the tranny cover and the

thing turned charcoal grey in about 10 seconds!! Then about an hour

detergent
to get off the grey!! Still not pretty...another application? Is this
"burning" the alloy, or is it removing deep down grease from 30 years.
It wasn't
visibly that greasy when I started. Thx,
