bike. I seem to recall that the starter solenoid was wired directly to
the key or starter button or both. Usually, there are markings on the
relay to indicate which connectors activate the relay and which
connectors carry the higher amps.
like this:

so I'm not the best artist...connect 1 to battery (fused), 2 to starter,
3 to starter switch and 4 to ground. the "0" would be the
electromagnet, "|" represents the downward connection, and the "/"
represents the open relayed switch (down closes it). There's a couple
other topologies, but they have a standard set of pictographs.
