Yes the condenser pigtail goes on the terminal with the coil lead at the
side of the distributor. As I understand it the condenser is there to slow
the collapse of the magnetic field in the coil. The slower the collapse of
this magnetic field in the coil the longer and hotter the discharge from the
coil. Since the points and condenser are on the negitive or ground side of
the coil the condenser acts as a slow drain for the voltage on the primary
side of the coil. This is the way it was explained to me. If I am incorrect
someone please let me know so I don't go around stupid any longer.

Hi everybody. Does the pigtail coming off of the condensor mount back
on to the coil terminal on the distributor? Mine was, but that does not
seem right. Neither does the strong blue spark i get when the points
close....I have another condensor, but I dont want to fry it by doing
something dumb. This does put the condensor in parallel circuit to the
points, but why I am I having trouble picturing the power flow? Anyone
feel like enlightening me?
Many thanks.
