Subject: Cad plating

When I was restoring my Eldo few years ago while I was living in Dallas,
my fasteners and other parts were Cad plated at a place in Grand Prairie
called Texas Metal Refinishers. They did a good job at an inexpensive
price. Now I have 2 questions:
1. Is there a place closer to home in the Washington, D.C. area that I
could try?
2. Last time, I cleaned every part with a wire wheel on a bench grinder,
which was quite time-consuming (and messy). I am not sure whether this
would be required or not, since rust and oil might be removed in a bath
before the plating. If someone on the list might know something about
this, please respond.
