Great rally report, Patrick...you make me long for the western states
now that I've moved to Tampa, FL. :>

You all missed one very fine event. First ever Utah state Guzzi rally
in Panguich. Spectacular weather. Fine county fairground site.
Incredible surrounding scenery and roads. A wonderful 250 mile loop
tour on Saturday led by Sergeant Crump. Ask him about the near head-on!

Only about 30 in attendence. Not any loopframes. What's with that?
This goes on next year's callendar for sure.

I took long distance rider at 874 miles.

Only opened my tool kit once, to help a flat tire jeep in the Nevada
desert. He had theft proof locks on the spare tire, and a removal tool,

but the lug wrench didn't fit the removal tool. Simple help with my
sockets.

Departed early Sunday morning to ride Cedar Breaks National Monument
just after dawn. Nearly freezing at 8500'. Scared at least 40 deer and

one elk off the road. Puckered me up real good.

Took a detour to visit the Mountain Meadows Massacre Memorial. A very
somber site. Sad period in our national history. Look it up.

I had another brief stop at the near-border town of Modena. I wanted to

know the naming history, but the resident I spoke with had no knowledge
of it. He was aware of the only other Modena in Italy and its fame
through Ferrari. Modena was once a huge town of 3500 people during the
steam train days. It had water to feed the steam locomotives. The
placement of diesel engined trains was doom for the town. Now there are

only about 10 residents and it is very near to ghost town status. I
can't seem to find anything on the net about the naming history.

Rode the extraterrestrial highway back across Nevada and joined my
inlaws camping in Yosemite last night. My fourth trip over Tioga pass
this year. Man I sure love the open space visuals of Nevada!

Looking forward to the Nevada State Rally in two weeks.
