Greg,
If you're curious about oil filters, go to
http://minimopar.knizefamily.net, clik on "engine" scroll down to
"lubrication" then clik on "oil filter study". The guy is an electrical
engineer/car gearhead who buys, cuts open, & analyzes various brands of oil
filters. After reading & looking at the photos, I will NEVER use a Fram oil
filter in anything I own!
All oil filters have a bypass valve built in to allow oil to bypass the
filtering element if;
1. the element is too dirty to allow adequate flow, or
2. the oil is cold & thick & won't pass through the element fast enough.
The theory is better unfiltered oil than not enough oil.
