howdy folks,

reasonably new looper here. i introduced myself a few months ago... i've
got a few issues i'll be tackling on the ambo over the next few
weeks/months, but i'll start off with the (hopefully) easy one first.

how can one tell if the speedometer itself has gone bad, or if it's just the
cable? the symptoms, as best i can describe them, are that the needle
appears to have some input relative to speed, but is only proportional up to
about 40mph, and at all times fluctuates wildly (by about 40-60% of the
guage)

now, if it is the cable, i've purchased a new cable and housing, etc. are
there any little things i need to be careful of when i replace it? i seem
to remember hearing there were some small parts that could get lost in bad
places if one is not vigilant...

thanks for any help, off list or on.
