Mike i had triple A boards on a 73 eldo and the header pipes hit the boards too. My header pipes were chrome and tucked in to the frame rails just a bit and hit the boards. I had to space the muffler hangers out over a half inch to move the pipes outboard .Then i used stainlees steel clamps under the foot boards to hold the headers in place up against the foot board rails. This replaced the header clamps to the frame rails and worked very good! Later on I had stainless header pipes on that didnot hit the rails but very close with out moving the muffler hangers out. Hpoe this helps
