Carburetor cleaning with Pine-Sol and buffing

Thanks to Joe Tokarz for sending me this information via email. Avoid damage to your carburetors. Do not soak your carburetors in Pine-Sol too long. In Joe's own words and photos:

Same great results with Pine-Sol but adding a final buff treatment.

Clean off oil residue with paint thinner then soak the parts in Pine-Sol for about 10 hours. Brush clean in hot water and Simple Green to remove any P-S.

Then buff everything lightly; carb body, slide, and brass with the Nyalox blue wheel in the Bench Top Buffer Hood. The buffing not only looks good but burnishes the surfaces to smooth out the micro-roughness. They will dull over time but will be less prone to discoloring. Dellorto carbs are made from an alloy called ZAMAC an acronym for the Zinc, Aluminum, Magnesium, and Copper alloy.
