Valve seal size

Thanks to Alex Balogi for posting this information on the old Yahoo! Loopframe_Guzzi news group (which has now moved to Groups.io). In Alex's own words:

I've had good experience installing these seals in my G5: 516 inch × 0.53 inch Valve Seals, Viton.

The expensive part (besides the gaskets etc) is the tool. But now I can do all my old Guzzi's.

Make sure you measure for interference once the seal is installed. Install the head with the new seals, and check for space between seal top and valve spring retainer when valves are fully open.

Using the tool and installing these seals is a very simple operation.

Experience in using valve seals

Thanks to Tom Halchuk for posting this information on the old Yahoo! Loopframe_Guzzi news group (which has now moved to Groups.io). In Tom's own words:

I added the valve seals to mine about...7-8 yrs ago. The wear on the stems and guides let enough oil to pass by to cause pinging under load. So I installed valve seals with the head rebuild. That was 7-8 yrs ago. I have no issue with wear. I based my decision on a number of conversations.
