Thanks for the info David.....I'm still confused as Guzziology gives a
different part number for the tubes....guess I'll just have to check it out
myself as I also have a loopframe disc brake front end.....

According to the index in Ian Falloon's "The Moto Guzzi Story" we find
these figures for loopframes:

V-7 6,189
Ambassador / V-7 Special 11,809
Eldorado / 850GT 13,061

Of these Falloon says that Disk Eldos numbered 350 and 164 850 GTs were
so equipped. I would trust his numbers because he got them from Ivar De
Gier who is the world's preeminent Guzzi historian. I personally have
only seen three in the metal. Mine, Dave Otis's and another belonging
to yet another Dave. I don't get out much it's true...

Book review:

Greg Field's "Big twins" is the best and most readable. After that, for
history, you have to go to the big book "Moto Guzzi" to get the Italian
slant on things. Mick Walker's books are pretty good but only skim the
surface of the topic. I enjoyed Falloon's book but it didn't bring
anything new to the table and takes safe and uncontroversial stands on
issues.

I have not read Mick Walker's"Moto Guzzi Restoration" because I picked
it up at the bookstore and found it too general for all but the Guzzi
newbie. No color pictures and a lot of generic advice on restoration.
Phbbbhht!

If Mike Skaggs has read this far I will answer his fork tube question:
Yep, the tubes are the same and the cartridges fit in them fine. Much
better damping than the old system.
