On my '71 Ambassador the starter turns over with the key in any position. It will only start with the key on the 'run' (#2) position. I believe that the ignition switch was changed at one time as it has the third position that would work like a car ignition (start using the key). It won't start or turnover in this position. Excuse my ignorance at the moment but this doesn't seem like the way it should be and quite frankly seems pretty dangerous. Anyone have any ideas as to where to start on fiquring out what is amiss? The wiring inside the headlight does not appear to be butchered in anyway but I am going to pull off the dash tonight to get a look at the ignition switch wiring. Anyone ever experience this?
