his got killed in a single vehicle accident, trying to pass on an
s-curve. A "buddy" of his was with him on another bike and estimated
that they had their crotch rockets going about 100 MPH when the kid lost
control and hit a tree, head on. Definitely some bad karma going on
there. Not much left of the bike, the kid or the tree. The funeral was
open casket but probably shouldn't have been. Kinda' sobered my son up
to the realities of riding carelessly. At least it made for a good
opportunity for me to point out a basic truth of motorcycling; "You can
always go faster".

Ride safely.

tom - I am glad to hear about your chrome and etc good karma- the bad karma
is right down my alley
I have ridden for a long time - the 60's
my son Andy turned 18 on saturday - he has had a loan pending for 12,000 for
three months- pending this magical date-how he got it - i do not know - it is
not even high interest
anyway this last week i find he has a GSXR750 lined up at a dealer( today I
find it is a ZX-9) this dealer is a shaky guy - I bought an H-1 in 71 almost
30 years ago - when i was 18 - my parents did not stop me - i survived
somehow - the dealer has a local name of snake oil jim - but everyone goes to
him - all the kids
things are much different today !

on the 24th I start MSF boot camp for instructorship- as in to become one-
my kid was going to go to MSF - which really only slight effect on a
superbike circumstance anyway - but at least it is something - and now he is
signed up for a rode test- instead
friday _ i went over to Snake Oil's place spoke to his son and him - he is 75
- he does not want for money - he just needs the fix of a sale- Snake Oil -
blames me- because I am a poor example - since I ride
his son says he will kill the deal thru their finan ce company( i do not
think this will happen) snake oil then tells my son - what a rotten deal he
has because I ride and do not want him on a scooter of his choice
hey it was a great birthday party the next day - but I did what i did- I am
sure that when my son's funeral came about - he would be the first to say -
it is a damn shame - the parents should have stopped him

we all know it is hard to be 18 - particuliarly today
but unscrupulous dealers- sprot writers who only tout the nanoseconds between
each bike in the twisties and their top speed comparisons= peer pressure ,
these are some of the things that kil these young people
I think Japan and Europe's tiered riding legislation woiuld be a goof thing
here
my condolensces to your son's late friends ' family -i am sure they are
hurting
best of luck with everything
rich

Thank you Richard
