Todd
From what I remember when I pulled the box and boot off, the oval opening
of the boot just presses up against the face of the airbox . Not inside the
opening.
Since my boot was ripped, I bought a set of K&N filters and fit them
directly onto the carb body. I had to remove the venturis ( velocity
stack) to make them fit.

This was all before I read the posts in this list about pros and cons of
running K&Ns without the stacks, or using the UNI filter setup with the
stacks.
I eventually figured a way to have both K&N filters and the venturis fit.
I do believe the stacks make a smoother running motor.
I dont have any experience running the bike with the airbox to make a
comparison
Good Luck
Pete

I replaced the air cleaner and rubber connecting sleeve
on the Eldo and was looking at how the rubber sleave fits
on the air box cover......my Eldo did not have the original
installed when I bought it. Does the rubber sleeve fit over
the box cover opening , or is it supposed to be seated
on the inside of the cover? It sure doesn't look like it
will seal well if rubber connector has to seat inside the
air box cover. What gives?
