Hi Kevin,
John's bike was indeed an Ambo, albeit an early one. I bet if you
check the
serial number it starts with an "A" followed by a "12xxx" number.
Both Ian
Adkins and I have these bikes as do others on the list. Basically,
they're
just V700s with 54cc more displacement and different paintwork. Not
as
powerful as the second series Ambo, but they work well in the real
world and
to me are more desirable due to their relative rarity. If you see
John again,
write down the serial number, I'd like to see how it falls compared
to Ian's
and mine. Cheers,
Charlie

Again, you guys impress me with the level of help to a fellowforrider.
I will go through all the parts contacts, links and suggestionsgettingtrying to re-solder that piece and see what happens.
I'm enjoying my new Eldo everyday (my poor BMW R100 is sadlybatterydusty...and the only action it sees now-a-days is from thenightmaintainer). I met another Eldo owner here in San Francisco lastguyat a neighborhood bar. I had the Guzzi parked out front and thistheir tablewent through the whole bar looking for guys with helmets onof yuppieor under their stool. He said that he passed up asking a bunchmulti-colored Arai
looking guys wearing new Vanson leather jackets andowning ahelmets because they definetly weren't the type to appreciateengineGuzzi. Seems he has a '73 Eldo that he's looking to replace thesoon.for. I mentioned this list so maybe we'll be seeing Dennis' namesayingNicest guy you could meet....but then again, that goes withoutnow hassince he's a Guzzi owner.
And lastly, friend of mine who used to own a Ambo years ago andtalkinga Moto Guzzi 850...has gotten himself a 73 Eldo. Since I've beenitch : -
