ian-
i know that this is prolly anal, but what i did is this:
after noticing the really bad/loose paint/corrosion, etc. inside the
sidecovers, all over the frame, batt. tray, etc. when i first got this bike,
i took a drillbit, & bored out the 'lil flat vents in the batt. caps to make
'em round. then, scrounging up an elbow & a tee fitting [really small
vaccuum fittings ripped out of a long-ago g.m. truck], i put the tee in 1
cap & the elbow in the other, put a short hose from 1 cap to the next, then
a long hose from the remaining tee fitting to the air [down by the rear
tire].
haven't seen any problems yet. 1 thing- blow thru the hoses to make sure
the drill didn't push a pile of plastic bits into a pile in the caps,
blocking off the breathing ability of the caps. whew! didn't take that long
to do it!!

Hi All,

While on this thread I wanted to share an idea that I have had for a while
now.

I have thought about putting the battery in a container and then having a
vent line running out the bottom. Kind of like they have in boats to keep
water out. Do you all think this would be dangerous given the H2 gases that
are given off? I need to find a container that is small enough to fit inside
the Ambo. Most I have seen are for the big auto type. Anyone done this?

Thanks....Ian

Good point on the batt.vent.On my Eldo.I have to clean the terminals more
than I like and have placed those green and red felt things under the
terminals and spray the terminals with corrosion spray. But all in all they
work very well.On my 68 I don't get the corrosion? Also as most of you
know,don't overfill them! Dave
