Pretty much. The pully is in two peices. When I first put the Ambo back
together I was at least one hole off. bike ran like shit and I couldn't get
the points to behave. Once I solved the timing marks then I could install
the distributor in the right spot.
come to think of it..if you have timing issues...the distributor may be off
a tooth or so.

So, let's see if I've got that correct.
Remove, three bolts, give front of pulley a tug? with something suitable
and off it comes? Belt and associated washers will come off.
Fiddle with washers line up front of pulley and screw in bolts in same
holes.
Let's assume for a moment (I have been having trouble since I bought the
bike with smooth running at the appointed timing marks)
Let's assume po fucked up.
Put left cylinder at TDC on compression stroke (when intake valve closes)
fart with pulley to get the TDC mark on rear pulley lined up (first mark on
left)
without moving engine, put pulley on and tighten screws without moving
anything else.
Time the bike.
Yes?

That would be the right answer Z. Just remove the 3 small bolts andthe washers for correct tension. Just be careful about not removing therearpart of the pulley and screwing up the location of your timing marks.out

Probably already answered....
Yes.
To be more clear...
the BAN (big assed nut) does not need to come off to swap washers in andto adjust belt tension. Just the 3 small bolts. The only time the BANneedsto come off is to remove the flange that the pully is bolted to. Noin
necessary unless you want to remove the timing gear cover. After my years with BMW manuals I find the Eldo shop manual a bit sparsebeltplaces.
I'd like to know if I can pull the front of the pulley and generatorandto adjust washers and stuff without removing tank, loossening generatorbar.taking the belt off that way first.
Can someone walk me through the steps please.
I assume loosening the crank nut involves having the bike in first gear,
someone'
s foot on the brake and a fairly healthy sized extension to a breakergetCan I then just remove the three nuts on the pulley and use a puller tohttp://explorer.msn.com/intl.aspit off.
Can I replace the pulley in reverse with it still being on the generator
pulley.
Thanks folks.
