I put the kit on for the samne basic reason....had my truck on the lift at the Air Force Base Hobby shop, for an oil change, and when I tightened the plug, it came apart, and I was only using a small 3/8 ratchet. I would think that the thread could easily be tapped out, and these drain plugs stay in place, so the thread could be sealed.
