Subject: Cleaning finish on engine and cylinders/fins

Well now that I have my engine and trans out of my Ambo due to the trans
not being able to be shifted I want to clean the engine, fins and
cylinders and get all oxidation stains off and get a uniform finish on
the rough aluminum surfaces/cases and fins. I did try and look on the
topica archives but it told me there are no messages on the loopframe
archives.
Any suggestions on best way to proceed?
On the problem with the trans I picked-up another tranny to use in place
of the bad one. It seems to shift well and all gears and neutral could
be found without difficulty. Along with the tranny I picked-up another
Ambo that is all together and running although a little on the ratty
side which is fine with me. This way I can ride in the meantime while I
work on the disassembled one and really don't have to worry about the
cosmetics on the driver.
