It was a long weekend so I did some work on the Eldo/SP "Love Child".
My bike had new stock dampers from MG Cycle plus the original springs.
The springs were marked with yellow paint, indicating heavy duty. The
ride up front was terrible, the bike would slam over bumps and move
around while turning on uneven surfaces at speed.

I pilfered the dampers and springs from the SP carcass in the basement
and was amazed to discover that the dampers were still good. The damper
is the same length as the stocker but the springs are more than an inch
longer. The rod that holds the spring and attaches to the damper was
likewise longer.

With the bike on the lift and the new pieces installed the fork tubes
showed beneath the covers. With the bike on the centerstand the covers
are just long enough to cover the gap. On the road the bike rides about
a half or three-quarters of an inch higher. The softer springs handle
the bumps much better. I will have to make another run up to Bear Mt.
to see how it fares on a bumpy/twisty road.

This mod is mentioned in Guzziology but I was lucky enough to have the
parts on hand and I am very pleased with the result.
