I sent this privately to the questioner, but thought I'd post back to the
list as well.

I have been with MTS for at least 8 years. Only used twice. One was a bum
experience. Regina melted an ingnition switch on the way to work and I was
at the airport boarding a plane. MTS picked her up and took her to the
nearby BMW dealer. They wouldn't touch a Guzzi so it just sat there in paid
storage until I returned from my trip and borrowed a truck. The Guzzi dealer
was about 20 miles away and MTS refused to take it there. Their obligation
is to get you safely off the road to the "nearest" MC facility. The work
part is your problem. MTS will NOT tow my '46 Guzzi or anything older than
'75. They will arrange the tow by phone, but you pay full boat. MTS pays up
to $100 in tow, but cuts that in half if you tow from home.

AMA was cheaper. AMA will tow any bike I ride, even the old one, even your
bike if you loan it to me and I'm riding. AMA tows up to 35 miles. Closest
dealer is about 32 away. AMA will tow from home without reduction of
benefit. AMA will also cover my cars (but not my van RV) so I save even more
by cancelling the road service portion on my car insurance.

How's the service? Time will tell. Hope I don't ever need it but it had
better work right when I do. That's what seat belts, fire extinguishers, and
road service are all about.
