I remember reading that the guys who went for (and won) the pushrod land speed record on a Guzzi a few years back coaxed a few more MPH out of the thing by using plastic cups duct taped on the carb inlets.

velocity stacks, but myeldo does what exactly is the purpose of these thangs? will they improve
the
air-flow? make her run cleaner [stronger?]
The stacks are important to create a smooth, laminar flow into the carb.From my personal experience, fuel mileage is better, acceleration smoother,top end stronger, etc.
