Had big fun today. Left the house before 7am on the Ambo and rode 80
miles up to M G Cycle to meet Gordon and his wife Chris. It was brisk at
around 18f but not too bad. It was mostly country roads with the only
sort of big city being Beloit, WI. Gordon and Chris took the
Freightliner G5 and I followed them from the shop to downtown Madison on
a bunch of county routes. I don't know how many of you have mates that
would put up with riding with you in the 18f that dropped to around 15f
by the time we got there as well as Chris did! I tip my hat to her!
There's an annual poker run that starts at the square but we were early
and for a short while Guzzis held the majority presence of the event. We
went in the downtown restaurant for the New Years buffet and feasted
while we watched about another 40-50 bikes show up. Moto Guzzi lost the
majority status quickly as Gordon and I had the only two Guzzis. I think
there were more BMWs than anything else. A nice shiny new Aprillia was
there in the mix.
I split around 11:30am and headed to the Fuel Cafe in Milwaukee. Eric
Trosper was there discussing some warped idea for a prostitute service
for our canine friends along with Steve mygwa.. migwaya....mgnocia...
uh.... Steve M. Much easier!
Meaning Steve was there and NOT that Eric had a prostitute service idea
for Steve....
When the restaurants that served dogmeat ideas came up I decided it was
time to go. I headed south on US41 to beautiful Lake Shore Drive in
Chicago. Geez, that city looks great when there ain't a ton of traffic!
I tried to leave the city on local routes but it was too slow. I made it
to about O'Hare airport when I grabbed the slab for a mere 10 miles and
then on the suburban roads back to Wonder Lake.
A nice 350 mile ride in below freezing temps. The night is still young,
though. Off for another ride. Tavern is calling me. Probably only 20
miles or so.
