Just remember to make note of the exact spot the fork lock groove is before
you remove the stem.

I am having the triple tree powder coated and thought it would be better
to remove the stem if possible, to avoid possibilitiy of damage.

Ray,

Firstly, why do you want to remove it? I believe it is a press fit, but
you
have to remove the nut on the bottom to get it out.

Tools!! It's all about the tools.
Thanks to all for suggestions on the shocks and swing arm pivot.

Can I impose with yet another question? I'm trying to remove the stem
from the lower triple tree and before I apply the "heat wrench" or the
"big hammer" does this thing press out or screw out? I really do look
in

the parts and shop manuals before asking but there is precious little
info at this level of disassembly.

Thanks
Ray
