David,
Good thing you got ballistics. Friend of mine took a bike tumble this past
weekend and described it thusly, "Bob, when I was sliding across the
pavement I could feel my skin on fire and when I stopped I could smell
burning flesh". He was only wearing gym pants and a T-shirt. Bob

Joe Rocket that is. I have been riding the Eldo/SP to work this week to
sort it out before its first long trip. Due to the horrible weather in
the East this year I broke down and bought a set of Joe Rocket Ballistic
4.0 jacket and pants.

You get the idea, well made, well priced and they make 'em in XXL Tall
(black only). This was definitely the year to get some serious
protection from the elements. The only negative might be in hot weather
but I have not had the chance to test the outfit on a hot sunny day --
there haven't been any. I have been in a couple of frog drowners
already this season and the gear has done its job. In fact I had to do
some waterproofing on my Aerostich messenger bag. I turned it inside
out and put silicone goop where the yellow liner had cracked at the
corners.
