 Good one, John! ;^)
When I bought my first Goose (G5) I rode it for a day or two and took it
straight back to the dealer. "These valves are way too noisy. Maybe
needs resetting", says I. The mechanic comes over and says "Start her up
again". He listens for a little while, rolls the throttle a bit, and
shuts it off.
It's almost like a good old joke but he actually, for real says to me
"If it stops making that noise, bring it back immediately."
You get used to it.
Guzzis have the valve noise, VW's have the exhaust tinkle, unbaffled
Harleys have the backfire, beemers leak gas all over your left boot, and
I had an old Indian that *never* failed to start unless there was a
crowd to watch.
Personality.
Ray PS I was wondering when someone would pipe in and convert the
metric to SAE...

 i run .15 and .25 and they're noisy as hell...but it runs strong - so i
guess that's the draw back..i'm prety used to the ticking noise..
