Fred,
My wheels aren't disassembled (yet). It looks as though I'll be
restoring them myself, so I'll need to keep them. They're definately in
poor shape, so it will be a lot of work. The problem with them is that
(similar to my Eldo rims) they have gouges from tire changes as well as
serious corrosion. Steel wool and soap is not going to cut it!

They must have been in horrible shape! My Eldo rims sat outside at the
coast for many years, and I started out with steel wool, soap and hot
water and then went to the buffing wheel. Got em both done in a day.
Do you have them disassembled? If you go new, would you part with the
Borannis?

Fred,
When I restored my Eldo, I spent about 10 hours per rim to get them
polished. I started with 150 grit paper, and worked up to about 600 grit
paper (working by hand and with a detail sander) before going to the
buffer. The T3 wheels I have now are in worse shape than my Eldo wheels
were in.
I have had parts polished by pro places before, and it ain't cheap. I
would estimate that the cost of doing this would be considerably more
than half the price of the Excel rims (one rim costs about $125, I
think).

How bad off are your Borannis? I am sure someone will polish them for
half what a pair of new Excels will cost you.

Does someone know where I can get info on Excel rims for my T3? I need
to know prices, and where I should order them if I decide to go this
route. I have some very crusty T3 wheels, and am trying to decide: elbo
grease or dollars.
Any info appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian
