Hi Skip,
Saw the Thruxton at the Cycle World show and liked it quite a bit. The
exhaust doesn't have that awkward bend in it like the standard Bonnie
and overall looks nicer with the seat and clip-ons. With the extra
displacement and horsepower, it should be a good performer also. The
black and white standard one did look very nice also - all it needs is
the Thruxton's exhaust.

My buddy (former Guzzi owner) that went with me has a very short list of
"bikes he would go in debt to buy". Sadly, a Guzzi isn't one of them.
How long can Guzzi survive if they drive away not only the devoted Guzzi
fan, but also the guy wanting an Italian alternative to BMW and Triumph?
Cheers,

Charlie

I ran into a MG rep at a open house at a old Guzzi dealer now closed,
and
was on my Eldo. I introduced myself and talked with him for a few
minutes.
His attitude was basically when I was going to get rid of the dinosaur
and
get a new Guzzi. He kind of thumbed his noise down on the older bikes.
My
take was my eldo will do everything a new one will do, maybe not as
fast,
but I done have to worry about having a 10,000 dollar bike sitting in my
garage because you can not get a warranty part, or the dealer has
closed, or
the new Hondasuki dealer who has just picked up the MG line knows
nothing
about them. My dad bought a new Cali Sport and the paint fell off the
engine, the gauges are full of water from condensation, and MG said they
would give him a new set of bags for the paint and the gauge is not
covered.
He was told the engine paint is not really covered under warranty and
they
are addressing it as a courtesy

He is just glad he did not get a 03 model with the bad cams and clutch.

I was thinking about getting a new bike next year and really like the
new
Lemans, but with the problems and from what I hear from feed up owners,
I
think I will wait for the new Triumph Thruxton Bonnieville 900 due out.

 Hey All,

Went to the Atlanta Motorcycle Show yesterday....met up with Ed...ran
into
Mark Tenny and Barb Nowell. Small world eh?

Pretty good showing for Moto Guzzi. They had a good location and their
current line of bikes there. No Griso or MGS-01 unfortunately but the
bikes
appeared to be getting a lot of attention.

I was most interested in the Breva. I have been looking for a bike that
is
small and nimble for my girl...a good bike to start out on. She sat on
it
and she liked it. Now all I have to do is wait for the year old, $4000
deal
 to come along :-)

What REALLY turned me off at the MG display was seeing how the Moto
Guzzi
reps treated their customers. As I was looking at the bikes I began
talking
with this fellow. He explained that he owned a 2002 EV with about 3,000
miles on it. He was frustrated that the bike had never seen rain but was
rusting on the tank, the chrome was peeling and the tranny would not
hold
the gear. I mentioned to the MG rep that this is something that needed
to
be
dealt with and all this rep could do was make excuses about how ALL
bikes
break down and that he should go and see his dealer. I don't know about
the
rest of you folk but had I been the rep I would have spent a little more
time trying to appease this guy. If it was my company I would have
delivered
a new EV to the guy...taken his old one back and made it right.

How is MG to build a reputation with this kind of attitude....and what
is
this poor fellow going to say about Moto Guzzi to his friends? To be
honest...as much as I am interested in the Breva....how can I buy a bike
where the quality control is in question...no to mention the company
support
if I happen to get a dud bike?

I wonder how many other people are feeling the same way?

OK.......I apologize for the soap box tirade...just had to let it out. I
love the bikes, those who ride them and want to see this company
survive.
I
am just continually frustrated with the poor attitude of this company.

LOOP CONTENT: I love my Loops.

Ciao...Ian
