<P>Bob,</P>
<P>Here is what I did it has worked great. Get a new Generator bracket from Harpers Moto Guzzi online. $35 and very good quality extra material where needed. </P>
<P>Go to Lowes and pick up hardened studs (they will be black in color) out of their bin assorted hardware s/b 8mm but the length you will have to determine by the depth you can screw into the engine case with a diffrent 8mm, the thickness of the bracket times two if you use Harpers as theirs is twice as thick.</P>
<P>Locktight with red the studs into the case engage them as deep as possible. (if your threads are bunged up you should drill with a right angle drill ($14 at sears for a 3/8 drill) and install helicoil inserts).</P>
<P>Install the new bracket (had you other bolt not broke the bracket most likely would have sheared in two, they are poorly designed) using washer, lock washer and nylock nut. </P>
<P>Make sure your locating stud is good and the engine case is not oblong, if it is you can make a new stud to better fit the holes and JB weld it into the case to take up some of the wobble.</P>
<P>Lastly if you are like me I built a bracket to hold my two throttle cables as the made their way under the frame, used the frame hole that held the old style bracket to mount it just above the generator, the new brack has a extension arm the raeches doen and mounts on the generator clamoing bracket on the left sde. This aids in supporting the rotational torque. I was a bit concerned this would crack as it esstentiall mounts the motor to the frame. but after many miles it has worked well.</P>

<DIV></DIV>>I have heard about problems with the generator bracket and found mine
<DIV></DIV>>loose over the weekend. When I stripped the parts off I found the rear
<DIV></DIV>>mounting bolt broken off. From the looks of the bolt its been broke for
<DIV></DIV>>some time. Used an "Easy-Out" and removed the bolt. Any updates I need
<DIV></DIV>>to do to the gen bracket while it is out. Looks like a poor design with
<DIV></DIV>>the two mounting bolts so close together. Should I lock-tite the bolts
<DIV></DIV>>in place? What torque setting for the two bolts? Do I need to reinforce
<DIV></DIV>>the mounting bracket, someone told me a while back the bracket can
<DIV></DIV>>crack?
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>Thanks for any feedback.
