Hey All,

Ed and I managed to get a some riding and Loop work done this weekend.
Baretta (my latest project) has begun the process with a complete
dismantling this weekend. Everything will be gone through for inspection.
The engine was leaking from every orifice, shift return spring broken,
notchy steering, leaking rear end...etc.

I don't have the money for a "restoration" so this bike will be
"refurbished". The intent is to make the bike as solid mechanically as
demands require and as pretty as the budget will allow. I came up with her
name because I intend to paint the frame gun-metal grey. I haven't decided
yet but there will be some gloss black on the bike somewhere. I think she
will look very cool.

We have dismantled the tranny....bearings and gears are all near
perfect....something that I am very thankful for since there were bits in
the case from the shift return spring. Everything blown out and clean now.
My next task is to get the frame painted. I did find that the reason for the
notchy steering was because old dried out grease had formed in the bearings.
Cleaned everything and the races and bearings are in good shape. Amazing how
tough these bikes are.

Lots of work but so much fun....I'll get pics onto my Yahoo site as soon as
the film is developed.
