Well at least I'm glad it's not just that I'm a bone-head (even though I am).
I was thinking maybe I could grind away a little of the carb body around the end of the pin to get a better grip, I don't think it is a super critical spot that couldn't afford to lose a little metal. I'll think about it some more before I do anything irreversible.

Yeah, I've had this problem, too. I ended up removing the floats by destroying them to get at the pin. Once I could get to the pin with needle nose pliers I grabbed the pin and tapped the pliers on their sides to get the pin to move enough to grab the end of it. Had to buy new floats though ... sigh.
