Hacksaw,
To the best of my memory, I just replaced the Eldo wheel assembly w/the
850T, no other changes were necessary. I used the Eldo axle. Be aware that
the 850T brake shoe is about half the width of the Eldo, (to make room for
the cush drive). Guzzi used a DLS linkage on the 850T for best efficiency,
but you end up with a net loss of rear braking force. I had trouble with the
rear brake releasing after I made the change & have mounted an external
spring on the DLS linkage to help pull back the mass of the Eldo brake
pedal, crossover & rod.
In looking at the 850T brake on my bike, it appears that if you did decide
to convert an Eldo front DLS brake for the rear, you could save yourself the
hassle of welding up a custom brake arm & use the 850T DLS arm, Guzzi part #
14639603. I say "appears" because Eldo front brake protrudes out from the
wheel further than the 850T, & there might be clearance problems using the
850T arm. You'd just have to try it
Ron.
