If the tranny runs/shifts smoothly and you don't have metal filings in the
oil then I would leave it. Replace the seals.

Ok, so my trans has been sitting under the bench while I do an engine rebuild. Lately it has started to stare me down, like it wants some attention. I've read Guzziology (leave the tranny alone), and I've read Pete Roper (everyone should shim their gearbox). I realize Pete was talking about a 5 speed, not a 4 speed. I'm sure some of you have experience with this, do Pete Ropers 5 speed instructions work for the 4 speed? Thanks, Rob |
