Expansion chambers drop the gas mileage to anywhere from 15-20MPG.

They are cool bikes. Had a 72. Beefed up the swingarm and bushings and
added a fork brace. They are great touring bikes and maginal cafe
racers.....

Hi Mike,
There is, sort of. It'll cost you another $200, but MG Cycle sells a
more powerful alternator kit that'll bolt right on. It's about mid-page
here:http://www.mgcycle.com/charging.html

I've also heard of using one from the Suzuki GT750 "Water Buffalo".
Don't remember how much better it was supposed to be.

I'll be using the alternator I removed from my Convert engine on the V7
Sport for a small but needed improvement. Cheers,

There is a write-up and a nice ad for Greg's 600 watt
alternator kit in the latest MGNOC newletter. $300
seems like a good price. I wish there was something
like that for my Convert.
