If I had the cable overtightened, it was only the last few
miles of the trip (literally less than five minutes) -
hopefully that wasn't enough to cause damage. Otherwise
the problem was the reverse (although it didn't behave the
way, the cable was loosened - so it should have had any
pressure against the thowout bearing.

------------------------------------------------------------------- You want the freeplay at "lever closed" position. What you want to check now is where the arm engages the rear throwout bearing. It is easier if you remove the swing arm as Patrick said, but you can also check it with it on, a visual inspection, with the engaging arm removed- the rear thowout should be free of any gouges or circular marks, and with the engine running and in neutral it should not be spinning! Also check it with it in gear, clutch pulled in and slowly letting it out- (with the bike on the centerstand and be very careful of course)- make sure it is not spinning. |
