Well, as some of you may remember, since I put the Eldo back together last spring I have had clutch slippage. I tried readjusting the cable and clutch arm, but to no avail. It would do OK as long as I didn't really get into the throttle, but I couldn't go faster that about 50 MPH unless I was drafting something large.

Well...I got up the gumption and dropped the tranny and pulled the clutches. They were gummed up with a tarry, greasy substance which I believe was probably the grease I had applied to the input hub, maybe some of the oil that had been leaking down through the bellhousing from the breather tubes (which I have also fixed) too, but mostly the grease.

I measured the disks and one measured 0.275" and the other 0.279", so I guess they were a little under spec.

The clutch surfaces of the ring gear, intermediate plate, and pressure plate were good. (well, they were lubricated so that's why there were no burn marks...lol!)

Gotta get her back together,
talk to y'all later.

Sorry I couldn't make the Gilmore Museum Kev and Sam, had homework to do plus I am still putting the Eldo together again.
