Hey Greg. Well I put in a horn relay and ran a wire directly to
the voltage regulator. I was going to put a fuse inline there
and figured why not just put one between the battery and the
regulator for an extra level of protection.

Hi Ted,
I guess the first thing that comes to mind is, "why?" I'm not
sure what
you would be protecting the battery from? I suppose if the
regulator
went bad, then it could be overcharging and burn up the
battery? Even if
that did happen, I would think that I would still want it
directly
connected so that I could at least turn on all my electrical
gadgetry
and limp into town somewhere. I guess you could use it as a
early-warning detector.
As for what amperage fuse to use, here is my logic (probably
flawed):
If you have a 300 watt generator and you want it to charge at
no more
than 15 volts, then a 20 amp fuse would be what is needed.
Note that I
used the simple formula: watts / volts = amps

Hey guys, I'm thinking about putting an inline fuse betweenbattery and the regulator. Any reason not to? What size fuse
should I use?
