I used to have this problem until I squeezed the cup around the ball on
the end of the cable. It no longer 'jumps' out at the most inopportune
times.
There are cables for the civilian and LAPD bars - did you get the right
one?
There are two ways to take up slack in the cables: the adjuster on the
1->2 splitter, and at each carb. Dial out some of the slack at the
carbs (equal lengths), and then do the 1->2 splitter adjuster. You need
some length at the carbs so that you can introduce some slack in the
cables at idle.

The cup on the end of the chain is what I was referring to.
Paul
I ordered the 2 long cables that come from the handlebar controls for
the throttle and choke. Then the 2 short ones that come from thejust
splitter and go to the choke and throttle on the carbs. They were
cables. I would think that there would be another adjustment otherthan
the splitter end where the cable goes into the "H" contraption, butjust
there seems like none. That little chain inside the throttle grip
doesnt seem to hold. Is that the cup you speak of, or the one whereit
goes into the carbs?
paul-@comcast.net wrote:I have a question however with the throttle. The dang cable keeps
to befalling out of the chain holder inside the grip. Nothing appears
alsoholding it except a small casing at the end of the chain. I am
end ofwondering how to take up the slack, other than the screws on the
on howthe 2 -1 coupler. Seems a bit sloppy, the whole setup. Any info
when theto better keep these cables tighter would be nice, especially
when Icable slips out of the carb and sticks on the side of the housing
bit
rev it sometimes. New cables alla round too. They almost seem a
properlonger than necessary, but I trust MG enough to send me the
parts.
