Your floorboards are aftermarket not as the standard LAPD Guzzi type, the
linkage you show is standard as that used by the foot peg model.

brake and shift pedals mount directly to the floorboard rail, the linkage
from the shifter pedal connects to a shaft on the floorboard rail and then
to the transmission, that is where the change in direction comes in the
shifting pattern, I will post some close up details on my website if there
