Hi All

Where can I get some 90 weight gear oil with the Molybdenum additive?
I read in the Tips booklet that this is recommended. The local shops carry
the straight 80-90 weight oil but not with moly.
Whats your experience? Is it really needed?
Seems like it should be a standard additive to all high pressure lubes.

Thanks
Pete

Tom,

Thanks for setting me straight. Your description was good and I understand
now.

In thinking about this (for future problem solving), if the cam was indeed
in the wrong spot then wouldn't the bike run poorly all the time? Rick has
said that the bike runs well with the choke on but not off. I'm just
curious
as to what the signs would be of that.

If I know Rick's bike correctly I don't think this will be the case but
you
never know.

Interesting discussion.

Regards....Ian

Ian,

I think you are confusing the electrical timing of the distributor with
the cam timing. In order to get an engine to run properly the cam must
be synchronized with the crankshaft. Then the distributor must be
synchronized with the camshaft. Even if you did pull the distributor and
move it a tooth or two one way or another it would not fix the problem
if the cam and crank were not in their proper places with respect to one
another.

I admit that this is a long shot, but if somebody has torn down the
engine, and all other attempts have failed, then it might be time to
pull the front cover(s) off and check the synchronization marks.
