I would think that the offset question could be answered by checking a T-3
or convert as they have two disks and spoke wheels. I can't get to one now
but I'm sure someone on the list can check.
I have been told that the plating on the spoke nipples is nickel. I would
check prices before having them replated as new ones aren't that high.
As for gettin' the old spokes out you seem to be on the right track. I
would not try to save a spoke that was too terribly stuck as the wheel rim
and hub are the valuable bits there. In your case with the disk the spokes
are rather long (compared to the drum brake wheel) and if the spokes are
bending my advice is to cut the to a manageable length, wack 'em out of the
hub and get shiny new ones. I bet my life on my wheels and I don't miss a
chance to stack the deck 100% in my favor. :)
Check my Ambassador with a disk:

I am considering

hub exactly in the middle (same offset both sides), or should I put it
back together the way it was?
My second question is about the spoke nipples, which are made of
bronze or brass, but have a silver finish on them. What is that finish?
Is it nickel, or what, and where can I take them to be refinished (a
chrome plater, maybe)?
And lastly, does anyone know a good way of getting out spokes which
are stuck in the hub (due to oxidation of the hub)? I have been using
penetrating oil, a propane torch, and a hammer (striking a nipple
screwed on the end of the spoke). This works, but takes a lot of
patience, and results in more time straightening bent spokes.
Any help is much appreciated.
