Anyone spare any thoughts on the positioning of ring gaps when you are
installing new rings on a piston. When the weather warms a bit I have new
cylinders/pistons/rings/wrist pins to install on my Eldorado. I gather that
I should be positioning the ring gaps around the piston, say every 120
degrees before sliding the piston into the barrel. But the oil control ring
really has three gaps - one for each thin one that sandwiches the wavy middle
one - what do you do with these gaps? Maybe none of this matters and I
should just put them in without any regards to spacing because the rings will
move around on their own? Any thoughts on this stuff???
Thanks,
Tom
