I have put several hundred miles on my eldo since I put my new pipes on and
they have not turned. One side has a spot of color on it, but I think thats
from where I didn't clean off the polish all the way. I've been told that
if they don't turn, the bike is slightly rich, but my plugs look normal.
Instant blueing means too lean a mixture. So therfore, I have no idea
what's up with my headers. Maybe it lakes longer than I thought. Btw, At
Guzzi day, I saw a new Bonneville with less than 1000 miles with pipes that
were blue from the exhaust port almost to the muflers. Everyone's comments
I heard were of the too lean a mixture persuasion.

Let me guess....cheap headers? :-) The new headers I put on my 69 Ambo turned blue fairly quickly. Plugs seemed to be ok though. I thought that all chrome pipes turned bluish. Stainless turned golden. Anyone here have a Loopframe where the headers aren't coloured?
