I doubt there will be near enough ripple. The pulse at the points is
very defined and the peak voktage is quite a bit higher than the low
level ripple present at the charger.
No harm in trying though.

My tach looks to be as dead as a doornail so I asked one of the Guzzi
Wizards on the other list for advice.

He said to hook it up to a cheap battery charger, that the charger would

produce enough "ripple" to fire the tach. He predicted a reading of
3500 RPM. Unfortunately this weekend was a nightmare and I never made
it to the garage on Sunday to test his theory so keep us updated. I am
especially curious to see if your T3 experiment shows real RPM or
exactly half.
